Homemade Corn Tortillas

In our house, flour tortillas are usually the go to just because my boys will eat them. But corn tortillas are so good with certain meals like fish tacos! So, I finally made homemade corn tortillas, and my boys ate 3 tacos each! Corn tortillas are always a little more fragile, but these ones actually held up well! Also, I learned Masa Harina is gluten free, so if you have a gluten allergy these seem to be friendly!

Corn tortillas

2.5 cups organic Masa Harina, I buy an organic gluten free one

1 tsp unrefined salt

1 cup warm water

In a large bowl, mix masa harina, and salt.

Slowly add in water, and mix with hands until it’s like a thick dough. I usually add half the water, mix, and then the other half.

I make into a messy ball, and divide into about 16-20 balls.

Place ball in center of a folded piece of parchment paper. Roll out as thin as you can, if too thin they do crumble. Check my Instagram video for reference!

Sear each side in tallow in a small pan on high heat. Until a slight golden color appears. Enjoy!
